Tomorrow starts today

The world can be a tough place to live. Clime change, economic crisis,  globalization, natural disasters, poverty... Every day we hear are all those issues being addressed on media, at the bar, in our jobs, at schools, but how many time we hear about solutions? We are 7 billion of people in the world, is it possible that no one has thought about solutions? Or even more important, is it possible that no one tried some solutions before? No, it's not.

TRAVEL THE WORLD FOR SOLUTIONS
After hearing about the possibility the extinction of a part of mankind before the end of the 21st century, Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent put together a team and travelled 10 countries looking for solutions for the issues that could lead to this disaster. On their way they filmed this documentary so show how creativity and will power can transform our lives and live on this planet.

During their journey, they met different people actively engage in reshaping agriculture, energy, economy, democracy and education with two main goals: improve their life within their community and leave a better world for future generation. What else do they have in common? Positive action. More than addressing the issues with words, they are designing the solution with their action by trying and sometimes failing, and trying again, trying better to figure out what could be tomorrow's world. But how can we join them)

SOLUTIONS FOR EVERYONE FOR EVERYBODY
Individual actions:
1)      More organic food and less meat
2)      Opt for a renewable energy suppliers
3)      Buy local and by second hand
4)      Do not support financial speculation
5)      Reduce, re-use, recycle, repair and share
Collective actions:
1)      Grow vegetable gardens in our public spaces
2)      Build  a citizen community to produce renewable energy
3)      Adopt  an alternative local currency
4)      Create an alternative school
5)      Engage and get our political power back

Do you wander how to do it? Watch the documentary, engage in the construction of a better society and stay positive: tomorrow starts today.

Have any of you taken up the sport of climbing? I always figured it would be challenging, but I never really understood the logistics behind how people can safely train to climb cliffs and mountains until my visit to a local climbing facility, and guess what ? It was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The day began with us arriving at the facility and being introduced to the instructor who would teach us how to climb the wall effectively and without risk of injury. The instructor's name was Giorgos, and he is the one who put on our climbing harnesses, showed us the proper climbing techniques to use, how to abseil after reaching the top of the wall and gave us a brief tutorial on what the different colour coding of the panels jutting out from the wall meant. The wall was roughly 13 meters high and consisted of various different colours of panels, each signifying a different degree of difficulty. We were informed that green was the easiest to climb and they suggested we try to stick to yellow panels while climbing, but if we needed to use others to climb the wall then do so. If you have a slight fear of heights and you arrive to the top, it will take you some real motivation to have you voluntarily jump back and fall to belay down, so it is a great way to overcome your fears. I am really looking forward to the challenges ahead !

Turkish Delights

Only a few days ago I arrived in Istanbul, on my first trip to Turkey. Let’s go I said!

While I’m here in Greece it’s just a stone’s throw away.

I feel extremely lucky to be able to visit this country, where East meets West and the people are kind, diverse and super special.

Here are some of the delights I’ve found so far:
Sea and beautiful buildings

Hitchhiking trip from Kalamata to Corfu

Hitchhiking in Greece is fairly easy. Greek people are very friendly and ready to help out a stranger alongside the road. The easiest part of hitching was on the island, the hardest ( we gave up and took the bus) when we tried reach Kalamata from Patras. Most of drivers is going to the north of the country and to big cities, Kalamata is not a very popular destination. However, that was a crazy adventure and here you have our route pointed on the map!

The other day rummaging in my closet I found some clothes, which were either stained somewhere or broken, or simply that they were quite old and I almost did not wear them, I was ready to throw them when I realized that the old clothes , Stained or clothes with thread and needle you can create new clothes to your style and different, for example, in a pair of jeans that are not going to put you can make a case for your pencils, a purse, a cover for your camera , A bag, ... With a shirt that is stained and you do not know what to do with it, simply use paint and brushes and make your shirt a canvas, draws, writes, ... you can do whatever you want with it, Trousers you have cut and make shapes such as hearts, stars, dolls ... and sew them to your shirt, there are no limits, give free rein to your imagination and decorate your clothes to your style. Another incredible idea is that cowgirl jacket that we all have in the closet but we see it very bland or just a little old, with some folios, paint, brushes, sponge and a pencil you can create a super cool jacket that only you can have.

Dungeons and Dragons episode 2

How we saved the day

Introduction

Once upon a time in a very different universe, heros, that save the world and inspire peasants, are born ! Yeah right.

Okay fast forward from last time : We saved Greenest by battling a mean guy, we infiltrated the cult of the dragon (which are the bad guys in the story, so keep that in mind) and destroyed sucessfully one of their base. After that we had more responsability such as discovering what is the main objective of the cult of the dragon and what are their evil plan ! Of course it was something stupid like : destroying the world by summoning Tiamat the Dragon Queen so she can destroy everything. Of course, we disagree.

Some news characters appeared :

_Vauvek : Okay you have barbarians and BARBARIANS. He is a BARBARIAN. Hobby : destroying books.

_Simrion : Druid half elf, he speaks to animals. #Hippie #NoWeed

_Gael : Dragonborn, but a nice guy. He loves throwing fireball at innocent doors.

And basically we try to prevent the world from been destroy under the "supervision" of Eld. Our boss, or how I call him, D**kmaster.

Latest game :

We are in a swamp, (Mere of dead men) not a nice place for a picnic. It's cold, wet and disgusting. Our mission now is to find out why the cult of the dragon is gathering gold and others gems and where do they store it. Okay it doesn't sound so epic but believe me it is. You can imagine 5 people walking around in a straight line, trying not to lose each other. Finally after some time we managed to discover some canoe. But we were unable to find any stick or anything to make them move. After some time, lizards men arrived and set up camp where we were.

We hid as much as possible, stole the row and took one of them hostage. He guided us to a Castle, one of the base of operation of the Cult. We decided to make a deal with him and his people : we'll help them fight the toads men and they will help us destroy the cult of the dragon.

Once we reached the agreement, he took us to the secret village of the lizard men, where we found around 100 hundred women, children and old men waiting and serving a mysterious figure, inside a house. Curious, we tried to peek inside because he seemed that this guy had just became the King of lizardmen. Selly, (AKA your writer) went behind him to see who he is but she was stopped in her attempt by a flying knife. With this all the group sighted, already annoyed : they just recognised their boss.

After the talk, Eld finally left, leaving the group with an army 100 hundred of lizard men and... 5 canoe. The next day, we decided to go to the castle from the cult with the lizardmen. Exploring around unoticed, the adventurer gathered their strenght and courage : no one could know what will happen to them in this forsaken place...

To be continued...

Yana's personal project

In frames of my personal project "The Plastic sea" 2nd of April volunteers of Kentro Neon and locals of Kalamata joined a global movement “Let’s do it!” During only 1,5 hours more than 30 bags were collected -- 18 of them with the trash that can be recycled!
